Harrison Sports, Inc. is proud to congratulate Viktor Johansson, Jason Zuback and John Justice for their 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes at this year's ReMax World Long Drive Championships in Mesquite, Nevada. Viktor Johansson, of Sweden, unseated the four-time defending champion Zuback using Harrison's 55" PRO 2.5 Xtra cut to a length of 50". Johansson's final round drive of 315 yards into 25 mile per hour head winds beat Zuback by one yard. Johansson thrilled the crowd in earlier rounds with drives of 407 and 414 yards, the longest ball in this year's competition. Both drives flew far beyond any others in their group and brought the raucous crowd to its feet. Viktor's "viktory" makes it an astounding seven out of the last eight years that a Harrison Pro 2.5 has won the World Long Drive Championship. The 6'7" Johansson turned professional just before the final round and will be with Harrison when he defends his title in 2001. Viktor used the Integra World Long Drive/Harrison 6 degree loft driver at a final playing length of 50"

Jason Zuback's four-year reign as the king of Long Drive ended this year, barely. Jason has had an unprecedented run with four straight championships and Harrison Sports is proud to be a part of his great accomplishments. Expect Jason to be back stronger than ever next year. Harrison also extends its congratulations to John Justice for taking third place using our Pro 2.5 FL Lite shaft.

Harrison's sweep of this year's championships is especially gratifying as our competition was more aggressive than ever in their pursuit of the sport's best athletes. Despite these efforts, Harrison shafts were used by 28 (almost half) of the 64 entrants in this year's finals. Veterans Gerry James, Frank Miller, Vince Ciurluini, Kevin Wooten, Vince Howell and Andy Johnson were back with Team Harrison. Newcomers Chad Roberts, Paul MacKay, J.J. Skramstad, Brad Peterson, Kevin Blenkhorn and Neil Leslie were welcome additions. Especially notable was Dan Scardina, who made it to the semi-finals using a 68" Harrison Pro 2.5 4X shaft. Also noteworthy was Davyn Nola who came from New Zealand to fulfill his dream and did very well.

Harrison's reign in long drive is evidenced by the fact that no shaft has been used in competition more than the Pro 2.5 over the last eight years. Harrison builds shafts to achieve its most important goal: Winning. We are beginning to think that we must be on to something. Congratulations to all Harrison Long Drive Team members on another outstanding year!
