Dallas, TX- Long Drivers of America shattered their 1996 record of 3,522 entries with over 5,200 entries for the 1997 RE/MAX North American Long Drive Championship Local Qualifying.
"With more than 190 events held, this years Championship shoud have a true grass roots field."
The Championship Finals are set for October 21,25 in Mesquite, NV and will air on ESPN Christmas Day at 3:00 PM EST.

1998 Championship
The RE/MAX World Championships will be held in Mesquite from October 21-24. The first three days involve various preliminary events. The finals will be on Saturday, October 24 at the Palms Golf Course, beginning at 7:30 am and ending sometime that evening. There will be a total of 64 hitters from all over the world in the Open
Division and 24 in the Senior (this year they have expanded it beyond North America to Europe and beyond, hence the name change from North American Long Drive Championship to World Long Drive Championship).
Jason Zuback and Michael Hooper will both be back trying to Three-peat in the Open and Senior Divisions respectively.
