PRECISION COMPOSITES

All of Precision Composites shafts are sorted to a target frequency (CPM) utilizing a golf shaft frequency analyzer with 5" butt clamp, 70 lbs of clamping pressure, tested at full length with a 205 gram weight at the tip. The same method is utilized for both wood and iron shafts.
Shafts are sorted to the designated target frequency at +/- 4 cpm per flex. Shafts are then further sorted to a low (soft) or high (stiff) for each flex category. This sorting is done to +/- 2 cpm per flex. Following are identifying color codes associated with this frequency sorting procedure.
Color Coding inside the butt end of the shaft for flex:

L: Green
A: Red 70-79mph 230-239cpm
R: White 80-89mph 242-251cpm
S: Yellow 90-99mph 254-263cpm
X: Orange

The PCI shafts have a common frequency relation to letter flex,

across all the models. That relation is published by PCI. Here's a bit of

the relevant tables that they sent me, to give a flavor of how specific they

are. (BTW, the frequencies are measured at shaft full length with a 205g

weight and 5" clamp applying 70 lb of pressure)
