Superior Metal Technology Signs Brent Surratt, World's
Tenth Ranked Professional Long Driver, To Endorsement Deal
SMT Golf's "Baltusrol"
Driver
To Be Used By Surratt, A Perennial Qualifier at the ReMax
World Long Drive Championships Held in Mesquite, Nevada
OSWEGO, IL, March 27, 2002 -- Superior Metal Technology
(www.smtgolf.com) announced today that Brent Surratt has agreed
to use and endorse the company's "Baltusrol" driver
in professional Long Drive competitions and exhibitions. Surratt,
the 10th ranked Long Driver in the world, joins 6th ranked Pat
Dempsey as recent converts to SMT Golf's line of premium component
club heads. Brent Surratt, who is also sponsored by AccuFLEX
Golf shafts, is one of Long Drive's "young guns" and
is one of a handful of Long Drive professionals with a legitimate
shot at winning a World Title.
"We are overwhelmed at the reaction to our products
from the professional Long Drive community," said SMT Golf
president Mike Tait. "The SMT product line has only been
on the market for 44 days. To sign two of the World's top ten
Long Drivers is an amazing thing for our young company and it
gives me great satisfaction that we are doing things right in
our design, engineering and manufacturing process."
"I am truly excited to be with SMT Golf,"
Surratt began. "I met Mike Tait at the Long Drive Finals
last October. He told me about the quality of the materials used
to make SMT's hand-made club heads. After testing several of
their models I was impressed with the quality of the finished
product and with the consistency from head to head. The quality
control at SMT is outstanding, especially compared to 'mass produced'
clubs. I chose the 'Baltusrol' in a four degree loft although
I hit the six degree lofted 'Baltusrol' under certain conditions.
The 'Baltusrol' is the hottest head I have ever hit and I am
hitting the ball further than I ever have. I feel great about
having complete confidence in my equipment as the Long Drive
season kicks off."
Surratt will hit the SMT "Baltusrol" at
the Long Driver's of America (LDA) Tour event in Atlanta, Georgia
to be held the first weekend of April. Additionally, several
other competitors will hit SMT's "Shinnecock" and "Carnoustie"
models at the Pinnacle Golf-sponsored event. SMT officials will
be in attendance to witness what, the company hopes, will be
its second victory in a professional Long Drive event. Pat Dempsey,
using a six degree "Shinnecock" took first place at
the NorCal Long Drive Challenge in Stockton, California on March
16, 2002.
"After victories last season at the LDA Tour
event in Texas and at the season ending event in Stone Mountain,
Georgia and after finishing in tenth place at the World Finals,
I know I have the talent to win a World Championship," Surratt
summarized. "Having the most technologically sound equipment
in my hand when I step up to hit the ball will give me my best
shot. I can't wait to compete with the best driver available,
which is what I have with SMT. Thank you Mike Tait."
