SMT Golf And Victor Schwamkrug Record A Top 10 Finish At The Nationwide Tour's Lake Erie Charity Classic

OSWEGO, Ill. - Nationwide Tour player Victor Schwamkrug notched another Top 10 Finish for SMT Golf when he finished tied for ninth place this weekend at the Lake Erie Charity Classic at Peek 'n Peak Resort in Findley Lake, New York. Victor, who finished 2nd in Driving Distance with his two SMT drivers, a 7 Degree Spectrum and a 10 Degree Shinnecock, fired a five under par, four-day total of 283, just four shots off the lead for the tournament.

The tremendous success SMT has had over the past two years on the LDA Tour and in the Re/Max World Long Drive Competitions is now filtering over into the Nationwide and PGA Tour events with players like Victor. Victor finished 1st in Driving Distance and had a Top 25 just 2 weeks ago at The LaSalle Bank Open in Glenview, Illinois.

SMT Golf has caused quite a stir amongst the Tour players with their recent successes. In their first 3 events they've set a new Driving Distance Record of 429 yards at the PGA Tour's Shell Houston Open, Finished 1st in Driving Distance with a Top 25 Finish at The LaSalle Bank Open, and Finished 2nd in Driving Distance with a Top 10 Finish at The Lake Erie Charity Classic. It really makes you wonder what the future holds for this relatively new component manufacturer who already has 4 Re/Max World Long Drive Championships under its belt in just 2 years of competition doesn't it?

As SMT Golf transitions its success on the LDA Tour into the major Tours their mission remains the same: to design and manufacture the best quality drivers for golfers at every level of competition. Whether you are an average everyday golfer with a 15 handicap, or the leader in driving distance on the Nationwide Tour, SMT has a club that can help you improve your game.

Victor Schwamkrug, who led the Nationwide Tour in Driving Distance last year by averaging 339.3 yards in competition commented with, "SMT has the best driver out there right now. It's that simple. I've played under contract with other manufacturers over the years but nothing has even come close to the Spectrum and Shinnecock drivers I'm using right now. Since teaming up with SMT my confidence off the tee has increased immensely. Not only am I hitting the further than I ever have but more importantly I can control my distance and direction as well. That's the key to being successful. Whether you play out here on the Tour or once a week with your buddies on your home course, the SMT drivers are going to help your game. They've helped mine tremendously. I've led in the last 2 Nationwide Tournaments I've played. With my two SMT drivers in my bag, I know my first victory is just around the corner."

Mike Tait, President of SMT Golf said, "We couldn't be more pleased with Victor's Top 10 finish this week. He has a lot of talent and we're just pleased to be a part of his success. He's playing great golf right now and that's bringing a lot of attention to our drivers on the Tour and with the average everyday player who attends and watches these events on TV. He's been working very hard on going out there and putting together four solid rounds of golf. He's gaining confidence each week. He's a very exciting player to watch."

With Victor's exceptional distance comes a unique situation. Victor has somewhat of a different approach than most Tour players when it comes to his club selection. His length off the tee provides him the ability to carry two drivers in his bag because he doesn't have much need for a long iron on most holes. How would you like to play a Par 5 - 515 yard Hole with a driver and a wedge? Victor carries a 7 Degree SMT Spectrum Driver with a 47" long Accuflex VS339 XXX-Stiff Shaft and a 10 Degree SMT Shinnecock Driver with a 44 ?" long Icon Tour Prototype Shaft. The Spectrum driver from SMT is the club that set the Long Drive Distance Record at the PGA Tour's Shell Houston Open this year when Victor smashed one 429 yards down the middle of the fairway.

SMT Spectrum/Accuflex VS339: $275

SMT Shinnecock/Accuflex Icon Tour Prototype: $299
