Modified Alignment Crown

Hundreds of emails and telephone calls regarding the size of our most popular 455 Deep Bore, was the reason for the O2.

There seemed to be a big cross section of the general golfing public that had either heard about or saw the 455 Deep Bore, and thought about how much they would love to try it, but felt that they were simply not comfortable with the larger size...

Welcome the "Little Brother". The O2, beautifully appointed, was created to be the Prince to the current King. Beautiful and rich see through copper color with smoke black edges and backskirt, this "bad boy" will perform the same duties as it's very famous Sire.

With it's deep bore design for stabilization, it's more rounded body shape and ever so slightly higher Center Of Gravity than the 455, it fits into the SMT line without so much as a ripple. Besides the Spectrum, it is the only other head to have a unique modified alignment crown design.

The trajectory is just a shade lower than the 455, for a very penetrating ball flight.

The O2 will prove that... size, does NOT matter.

Notes from the designers' workbench.

The SPECTRUM : 391 ccs , it has been on my design table for one year... I needed to get as close to perfect with all of my designs as possible... sometimes it goes rather smoothly , and sometimes it is a nightmare. The Spectrum was a nightmare.... I knew what I wanted, but couldn't get there on my own.... UNTIL, my last trip overseas, about 2 months ago..... I got to sit down with a computer guy and finalized the last of the details on his CAD Program.....

I have NEVER been as excited about a head... ANY head in the past 26+ years as the Spectrum...

The Babylon: I actually had a playable head well over 6 months ago, a composite & Titanium head.... The samples came here, and I gave them to 2 local players and they LOVED them.... I mean... went CRAZY.

While they were testing them out.. I received the pricing structure for a "composite" head........ Holy Cripe! I almost fell off the chair... I guess I could have done it cheaper... but , again, I needed the BEST.

I decided to forget about it.

Well, they worked on it and got the pricing down to "affordable" levels.

so, here it is....

425 cc's - 30 grams of weight was removed from the crown and backskirt, and that opened up a world of possibilities for me...

It was "suggested" that I put a "weight pad" back near the heel to increase trajectory and lower the COG....

I was standing in the factory , and saw how many different people are doing heads... SMT heads ... all at the same time. It seemed very obvious to me that if I put a weight pad on the sole... there would not be ANY two welders in the whole place who would position it the same way... thusly, your 9 degree would not play the same as your friends 9 degree. UNACCEPTABLE !

I spent the extra money and am the first company to actually make a head of this style to be 3 different materials... I put a Tungsten Copper weight actually in the backskirt.. the SAME EVERY SINGLE TIME !

The Babylon, will have a higher lauch angle... actually .70 of a degree HIGHER than listed loft.... In other words,.. a 9 degree will play like 9.70 degrees, BUT... It is weighted in such a way that the spin profile is much reduced....

HIgher flight with less spin.

The "O2" - 402 cc's and a play on words... "O2" like "oxygen" , like, get the ball up in the AIR" ... Lame???? yep. but... LOL

I received literally thousands of emails on the 455 Deep Bore.... All of a complimentary nature,,, I have printed each one and have a filing cabinet full of nice letters from folks like yourself...

I also have saved the "suggestion" emails.... And the general complaints about the head were to the fact that.........

"It is just too big for my taste" - " I do not like a head that big" - " I hear that it is really special, but I will not try one , because my limit is 400 cc's "

So, I made the O2 to be a smaller version of the best selling head in the line, the 455 Deep Bore - World Champion head.

It also has much improved energy transfer, and all of the other little things that I changed when I was over there... ie; materials, workanship, paint, ( you will see all of the actual factory images when the new site is up )

It fills a "void" in the SMT line...

If you noticed... from the beginning, SMT heads have always tried to have a clubhead SIZE to fit everyone's tastes.

Well, the 2004 lineup has heads in the following CC sizes.

360, 370, 391, 402, 420, 425, 455

I figured that there was no sense in having 5 heads at 350cc's..
