Build a Torque Tester
By R. Kennedy

This pic shows the butt end clamp and pointer assembly. It is made in three pieces, 1/ upper clamp, 2/ lower clamp and pointer mount, & 3/ pointer. I milled the lower part with the step in it . The step surface is right on center line. I then made the upper part and bolted the two pieces together. I then bored, with a Jig Bore reamer a .625 hole exactly on center line of the two halves. I then milled the pointer pocket with the center of the pocket on center line. I then drilled and tapped a hole for a 1/4x20" bolt. The pointer is 13" long from the center line of the shaft butt( from center line of "V" ) and a 3/16" hole is drilled at 12" from center line of the "V" where a 1# weight is hung to show the torque.
